What to save up for

More a personal note/reminder to myself than anything else; following advice on some article posted on Facebook that said one way to stick to goals is by announcing it to everyone so that you’d be pressured to live up to what you promised.

  • Life plan – better invest in a decent coffin now since we’re all going to die anyway, and it’s way cheaper to buy a plan when you’re younger (transferable to mom, since she doesn’t have one; or better yet, two life plans from different companies, one mine and one for mom but under my name)
  • Enough money for time deposit – amount should be enough to earn decently from interest; to be “rolled” and “re-rolled”, stashed away and only to be used in case of emergencies (i.e. house burns down, someone needs to be hospitalized)
  • Printer with a decent paper feed and doesn’t vomit ink all over what’s its currently printing (or have current printer serviced)
  • Cheap Rock Band set for Wii (P3,500-ish) – mic, guitar, drums
  • More clothes and shoes upon confirmation of dress code at new office – it’s kinda tiring to panic every two weeks whenever clean clothes run out/get held up at neighborhood laundry shop or decent shoes don’t match clean clothes
  • New 16gig flash drive to replace one that old office netbook killed (around P1,500) or one of those small external HDDs you can lug around (around P3,500, but exponentially bigger space compared to flash drive)
  • Bigger, non-modular and basically sturdier shelving for stuff (one that doesn’t collapse on you when you pull out a folder of readings; around P5,000)
  • Bigger computer table-slash-desk – preferably that L-shaped, glass one at Office Warehouse with enough space to be able to use the tablet without having to remove keyboard off table (around P10,000?)
  • Boxing gym membership – if that Elorde’s branch in the same building at new office is (still? already?) open
  • Life/accident insurance just in case that one-year company insurance plan doesn’t get renewed or something after that one year
  • Travel – to see Cebu, Davao, Palawan (haven’t been outside of the island of Luzon yet unless it’s a trip to a diff. country, which is a shame), the Pyramids (both Egyptian and Mayan), Angkor Wat, Kyoto, the Great Wall of China, Europe Europe Europe, New York (again), Macao (again, just to buy bags and boxes of that beef jerky), and so many other places that maybe the topic of travel deserves its own blog post
  • A big-ass map of the world and the Philippines to put up on the wall, to keep track of those travels.
  • To watch the World Cup sometime, live, shrieking from some stadium with face paint and beer (if allowed)
  • Own Mini-Stop franchise (P1 million)
