Since their email is full, I just decided to post this here.
Why Fully Booked is the perfect place for evil mad geniuses who want to conquer the world (like me):
1. The Fully Booked – Gateway branch has Machiavelli’s “The Prince” decorating the floor, and the shelves are filled with tons of books from history, politics, literature and management that aren’t usually available in other bookstores (I can remember a terror professor of mine, who sorely wanted a deluxe edition of Marx’s Das Kapital from one of your branches – not that Marx is evil, but my professor was, with half of his class quitting before midsemester came).
Of course, Machiavelli’s a must-read for all evil mad geniuses, and those books on literature (not just confined to hardcore lit like classics, but also covering newer or newly-accepted forms like comics) are chock-full of examples that any evil mad genius may want to try out in real life. Those books on history and politics, meanwhile, are real-life examples on what not to do for your evil plans (unfortunately, literary characters are more rational than real people, so non-fiction books are better guides when taking over the world). And don’t forget the management books – of course, you’d need to know how to manage your empire once you’ve taken over the world!
2. Along with the books, Fully Booked has some high-quality stationery and notebooks perfect for keeping our notes and ideas (which we learned from the books) on taking over the planet. After all, we evil mad geniuses must only use the finest stationery; one reason why many evil mad geniuses fail is that they use substandard material (say, Acme products used by wily coyotes to catch speedy roadrunners) or they lack style. With Jordi Labanda or Moleskine notebooks, evil mad geniuses can easily achieve both quality and style.
3. Fully Booked manages to hold events which propagate the ideas of evil mad geniuses, such as workshops, exhibits, etc. They’re so good at events that they managed to convince Neil Gaiman (sure he’s a mad genius, but I’m not sure about the evil label) to fund the Philippine Graphic/Fiction Awards, and even convince him to come over here. They also have special sales, and even contests like this Book Grab, for not-so-well-off evil mad geniuses to get the rather expensive books they sorely need.
Heck, because of these three reasons that strike close to and understands the evil mad genius’ heart (or lack thereof), it’s also safe to say that Fully Booked is an evil mad genius organization too.
